Walking Through the Lord’s Prayer

When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He didn’t give them a formula to rush through or words to repeat without thought. He gave them a pattern. A way to slow down, re-center our hearts, and learn how to pray in light of who God is.

To help with that, we’ve created a simple 4×6 double-sided prayer card designed to be used as a Bible insert. It walks through each phrase of the Lord’s Prayer with a brief reflection and a written prayer, offering a starting point to facilitate your prayer and guide your time with God.

This resource isn’t meant to replace praying in your own words. Instead, it’s meant to help us begin - to give shape and direction when prayer feels scattered, distracted, or hard to start. From there, we’re free to linger, expand, and pray as the Spirit leads.

It can be especially helpful during personal devotional time, family prayer, or seasons when you want your prayers to be grounded in the words Jesus Himself taught.

A simple way to use the card:

  • Read one line of the Lord’s Prayer

  • Pause and consider its meaning

  • Pray the accompanying prayer slowly

  • Continue praying in your own words as you’re led

The prayers and structure on this card are adapted from a thoughtful article on the Lord’s Prayer that has been a meaningful resource for us and has an author you might recognize. We want to acknowledge and encourage you to read the original piece here:

Our hope is that this simple insert becomes a quiet companion in your Bible—helping orient your prayers, shape your posture before God, and remind us that prayer is ultimately about being with our Father, not just knowing what to say.
